ELK GROVE WATER DISTRICT AMR/AMI FEASIBILITY STUDY
Project Desciption
After completing a related meter route optimization study, EGWD retained MC Engineering to prepare an initial AMI feasibility study associated with approximately 5,000 meters. The project included evaluating existing meter assets and preparing an AWWA water audit to determine anticipated Real and Apparent Losses. The anticipated increases in revenue from the AWWA water audit were used to help support and business case for meter replacement with consideration of anticipated labor and efficiency gains associated with an AMI system. Several technologies were evaluated and the overall AMI system compared to current optimized route reading capabilities based on current meter reading practices. Various options for third party software and customer solutions were presented in the final report as well as projected costs, savings, and non-monetary benefits.
